Why Resonators for G8X?

Why Resonators for G8X?

Add Tone we strongly believe that every G8X car should be resonated. But before we get into that, what even is a resonator? A resonator is an expansion chamber within the exhaust that uses sound wave interference to cancel out unwanted frequencies such as rasp or drone before continuing on through the rest of the system. Furthermore, contrary to popular misconception, resonators do not create any restriction. They do make the car slightly quieter while eliminating rasp and drone but do not restrict exhaust flow whatsoever. Because of their rasp/drone elimination properties and the lack of restriction, we feel that every G8X deserves resonators. On equal length setups like our Z-Tech and Mega X systems specifically, without resonators there is awful rasp around 2000 RPM, similar to that of a fly buzzing right in your ear. For this reason, Almost all of our systems are resonated. We recommend the following setups: quad resonated cat back paired with catless downpipes, dual resonated midpipe paired with resonated downpipes, or either of those setups with 200 cell high flow downpipes. We have found the golden number of resonators to be four, and whether it is two in the downpipes and two in the midpipe or four in the cat back, you cannot go wrong.
